PROJECTS
Among the projects of the S4, Etiti Alumni Association include:
- Annual Science Prize & Igbo Language Promotion Awards
The Immediate Past President, Dr Jude Ohanele initiated the project during his tenure. The Present administration sustained the programme by successfully organizing the 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions while the 2019 event holding alongside the Biennial Economic Summit today is the fifth in the series.
This programme is aimed at promoting Science Education and our mother tongue in the South East Region and catching them young as the awardees are offered automatic opportunity to becoming Associate Members of the Alumni association.
At the National Science Prize Awards and Igbo Language Promotion awards, the awardees are given cash prizes and presented with Award Plaques and Certificates by the association.
Awardees lists which comprise the Best Candidates in Preceding years NECO Examinations are directly obtained from The National Examinations Council.
Currently the focus for the Science Prize Awards is on the three states that make up the old Imo State that owned the then Senior Secondary School for Science, Etiti, namely: Abia, Imo and Ebonyi States.
We hope to include Anambra and Enugu in the future. The subject areas for the awards are: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, Computer Studies and Igbo Language.
- Agro-Allied Businesses and Entrepreneurship
The Summit is expected to rise with a resolution to engage and sustain massive agro-allied businesses aimed at mechanization and commercial agriculture, food security and wealth creation in the South East Region.
Entrepreneurship which is believed to be a suitable approach to solving the persistent problem of unemployment and youth restiveness shall be explored by the members of the alumni association, in partnership with other relevant stakeholders.
We look forward to the assistance of His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu, the Executive Governor of Abia State and our own host Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, in making lands available to us for Agro-Allied Businesses and effective partnership in actualization of this economic revolution in Igboland.
- Science School Project at Etiti/S4 Alumni Industrial Project
This one of our on-going projects. It is the wish of the members of the Alumni family to establish a science school of a higher standard than the one that produced us as our alma-mata is no more in existence.
We have acquired land for science school project which the Preliminary Design and Preliminary Survey have been carried out.The Business plan is currently being reviewed by the Executive and the Board of Trustees.
This is because the original Senior Secondary School for Science, Etiti (Now Ihitte-Uboma) which produced these resourceful great men and women is no more and the location is currently being used by Imo State Government as a College of Education.
It is pertinent to note that we are leveraging on the expertise of our members such as Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, Accountants, Business Executives, etc. across the globe to achieve most of our projects.
An Industrial Park Project which is aimed at establishing cottage Industries, Factories and different Manufacturing outfits is also in the pipeline.
